TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Adjunct Lecturer   York College    Jamaica, Queens, NY,  2007-present
Taught research and writing course for Juniors and Seniors, focusing on developing the skills of analytic thinking and academic research while exploring theories of power and society.  Taught two sections of 22 students. Each student submitted over 50 pages of writing per semester.

Adjunct Lecturer   City Tech University    Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn, NY,  2008
Taught composition writing course for Freshmen, focusing on developing the skills of analytic thinking and writing.  Taught 1 section of 25 students. Each student submitted over 40 pages of writing per semester.

Poetry Instructor  Rutgers University    New Brunswick, NJ, 2007-2008
Designed and taught poetry writing course for adults in Continuing Education program. Course focused on reading and understanding modern poets, and exercises using various styles.  Publishing tips and venues were also discussed. Course ended with the publication of a chapbook, suitable for sale.  Compiled appropriate materials and writing exercises.

Developed and taught online writing program for the graduate social work department at Rutgers.  Ran one day and week-long workshops to introduce new MSW students to graduate level writing.

Read and accepted or rejected all fiction and poetry submissions to a monthly Queens based magazine. Acted as liaison to all literary authors, and did outreach for submissions. Copy-edited submissions once accepted. Worked with the Editor and Publisher of magazine.

Poetry has also appeared in over 100 journals, including  Rattle, MiPOesias, Pebble Lake Review, Lodestar Quarterly, The Exquisite Corpse, The Adirondack Review, The Absinthe Literary Review, Blue Fifth Review, Horseless Press, Poetry Midwest, can we have our ball back?, Stirring, and Octavo.

Fiction: Fiction has been published by Slow Trains, Perogi 2000, and Blood and Guts Magazine.
